Smart Factory solutions featuring linking of the RMGT 970PF-8 with prepress and postpress systems

The key to boosting productivity for tomorrow's printing companies will be how successfully they can progress from increasing the performance of individual production equipment to become a "smart factory" through total optimization utilizing IoT and DX technologies. RMGT offers solutions based on technologies focused on the themes "Interconnection," "Automation & Labor-saving," "Maintenance," and the "Environment."

In this report we look at the demonstration highlighting the "Interconnection" and "Automation & Labor-saving" achieved through coordination between the 970PF-8 A1-plus size convertible perfector and various prepress and postpress processing systems.

The RMGT booth serves as a "virtual printshop," presenting a model case for a smart factory in which the presses are linked with various prepress and postpress systems from our partner companies. The demonstration followed the series of processes in the production of paper folders. After the press acquired the job data from an MIS via workflow software, the sheet pile prepared by the pile jogger was automatically supplied to the press's feeder section by automated guided vehicle.

The generated plates were sorted by job unit by the automated plate sorter and then transported to the press by automated guided vehicle. At the press, the plates were auto loaded into the 7th and 8th color units by the Plate Supply System, which is being shown at IGAS as a reference exhibit.

Sheets printed using the Smart Assist Printing automated operation functions are first transported to the jogging machine. After jogging they are transported to the cutting machine for cutting.
The machinery on exhibit is all networked for enhanced process linkage, highlighting the advantages of the cloud-based RMGT Operation Management System. IGAS visitors were able to experience RMGT's next-generation Smart Factory concept, in which all production equipment in the printshop is networked and automated guided vehicles move freely.
