Lightweight Aluminum Die Casting with Excellent Recyclability
Since 1943, Ryobi has earned customers' trust worldwide with its advanced technological capabilities in die casting and high quality. They are used for a variety of everyday products. In the automotive industry in particular, we supply a wide variety of aluminum die cast products to major global manufacturers.
Die casting refers to both the production technologies and products of this industry, which involve the instant formation of items through the rapid filling (casting) of precision dies (molds) with molten aluminum or other nonferrous alloys under high pressure. These technologies can be used with high precision to form complex shapes with high strength for lightweight products. Die cast products are used in automobiles because they do not require much machining and can be mass produced while maintaining high quality. Ryobi's proprietary vertically integrated system enables shorter development lead times and the realization of advanced shapes and functions while incorporating an in-house created one-stop quality assurance system.

In the 1980s, we began doing business with overseas manufacturers. Our technologies and quality were praised by U.S. automobile manufacturers, and we became the first Japanese die casting manufacturer to establish a production base in the United States. After entering the North American market, we ventured into the United Kingdom, China, Mexico, and Thailand. We can quickly respond to diversifying customer needs thanks to a network of optimally located production bases with an eye to local production for local consumption. This enables us to support globalizing automobile manufacturers wishing to simultaneously launch the same products in multiple locations and realize a supply of the same level.
New Die Casting Hub that will Change Manufacturing
Customers are seeking improvements in weight savings for and thus the productivity of electric vehicles (EVs), especially battery electric vehicles (BEVs), as the weight of batteries and other parts impact driving distance. Amid this situation, a technology called "gigacasting"—using ultra-large die casting machines to create uniform large automotive parts—has been gaining ground overseas. In March 2025, Ryobi became the first domestic manufacturer specializing in die casting to introduce an ultra-large die casting machine, installing a unit with a clamping force of 6,500 tons at its Kikugawa Plant that began providing prototyping services for large parts. This technology manufactures a single large unified automotive part that conventionally comprises more than 100 different parts, effectively transforming the automobile manufacturing process, significantly shortening lead times, reducing costs, and helping reduce CO2 emissions.
